Edith Virginia Patton age 88 of Galax, Virginia passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at her home. Mrs. Patton was born on September 23, 1919 in Grayson County, Virginia to John & Alice Hill Ballard. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William Boyd Patton. She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law Edna & Fred Carrier; son & daughter-in-law J.B. & Mabel Patton; sister Eva Patton; brother-in-law & his wife Nelson & Shirley Patton all of Galax, Va.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. The funeral service will be held Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 11:00 am in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Marvin Williams officiating. Burial will follow in McKenzie Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from seven until nine at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
