Edith Lorene Knight's Obituary
Edith Lorene Knight, age 86, of Galax, VA, passed away Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012 at the Waddell Nursing Home, Galax, VA
Mrs. Knight was born July 29, 1926 in Foster Falls, Wythe County, VA to Mr. William Lee Tate.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Knight; sisters, Elsie Tate and Dorothy Tate Bowling; half-brother, George Tate.
Edith loved the city of Galax and going to the Rex Theatre and to String Bean to listen to country music. She volunteered at the Waddell Nursing Home in the ninities and early two thousands. The family would like to thank the staff of Waddell Nursing Home for the compsassionate care they gave Edith during her stay there.
She is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Beale, Charlotte, NC; granddaughter and spouse, Tonya and Mark Martin, Broadway, NC; grandson and spouse, Troy and Tammy Burns, Midlothian, VA; great-grandchildren, Cory Martin, Courtney Martin, Lauren Williams, Brett Burns, Jared Burns, Amber Burns; great-great grandchildren, Fox, Malina and Killian; half- sisters and spouse, Alene & Duane Smythers, Joyce Tate and half-brother and spouse, William (Bill) and Mabel Tate all of HIllsville, VA. Several nieces & nephews, also, survive.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012 at 12:00 Noon at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Felts Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012.
