Edith Pauline South Burcham age 89 of Galax, Virginia passed away Wednesday , April 10, 2024 in the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina.

Mrs. Burcham was born in Carroll County, Virginia on April 17, 1934 to Preston Wiley and Edith Smith South. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Willard Burcham two sisters  Lilly South and Imogene Lowe; three brothers Roy, Howard and Wilmer South; grandson Frankie Burcham.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law Becky and Larry Doby of Galax, Virginia; Joyce Coley (Alan Coley-Deceased) of King, North Carolina; sons and daughters-in-law Wiley and Wanda Burcham; Larry and Barbara Burcham all of King North Carolina; sisters and brother-in-law Irene Shupe; Norene and David Long all of Galax, Virginia; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Sunday at 2:00 PM in the Blue Ridge Chapel Church with the Rev. David Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from six until eight at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.Donations in memory of Mrs. Burcham may be made to either Blue Ridge Chapel Church or the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina.
