Eddie Robert Slayton, Jr. age 78 of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2008 in Cooper City, Florida. Mr. Slayton was born on August 22, 1929 in Danville, Virginia to Eddie Robert & Christine Powell Slayton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Peggy Lou Slayton and son Eddie Robert Slayton III. He is survived by sons & daughters-in-law Avery Randolph Slayton of Las Vegas, Nevada; Darrell Richard & JoAnn Slayton of Front Royal, Virginia; Gary Ronald & Lori Slayton of Hollywood, Florida; sister Margaret Porter of Fredericksburg, Virginia; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and two nieces. The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 22, 2008 at 11:00 am in First United Methodist Church with Rev. Walt Simmerman officiating. Burial will follow in Felts Memorial Cemetery with Military Rites by Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family will receive friends Friday evening from seven until nine at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
