Edd Chapman Cole age 81 of Fries, Virginia passed away Sunday, December 27, 2015 in the Twin County Regional Hospital.

Mr. Cole was born in Grayson County, Virginia on February 18, 1934 to Andy and Cora Byrd Cole. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of the children Beulah Cole and also by his second wife Roberta Cole; great-grandson Declan Bailey; sister Faye Stuart and brothers Wiley, Bill, Bob and Lewis Cole.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Rhonda and Tony Carper of Galax, Virginia; son and special friend Rickey Cole and Deedie Reed of Fries, Virginia; grandchildren and spouses Kayla and Matt Slate; Tabitha and Charlie Bailey; Andrew and Samantha Jones; great-grandchildren Keaton, Hallie and Breanna Slate; Riley and Landon Bailey and Peyton Jones; sisters Marie Jones and Bertha Nunley both of Galax, Virginia; brothers Alex Cole of Pulaski, Virginia; Gene Cole of Galax, Virginia; step-daughter Nancy Christman; step-son Allen Custer; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, December 31,2015 at 11:00 AM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Garry Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the Atkins Memorial United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from six until eight at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
