Dudley Blake Carter 63, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2022 at his home in Galax, VA.
Blake was born in Galax on November 10, 1958 to the late Celia Kathleen Carter. He was preceded in death by his brother Frank Robinson and grandmother Nannie Hawkins.
Blake graduated from Galax High School. He was a lifelong member of Mt Zion Methodist Church, Galax where he proudly served as secretary and usher. Blake was a jack of all trades. He spent his early years working in the dietary department at Twin County Regional Hospital and various restaurants. Blake worked in construction and could do just about anything around the house. Afternoon Redskins football as well as friend and family time were important to Blake.
He is survived by his Sister-in-law Carolyn Robinson, Nieces Dodie and Leta Robinson - Cary, NC, Nephew Scott Robinson-Galax, Great nieces-Layla Sessoms, Wytheville, VA and Autumn Elledge, Galax, VA Great nephews Christian Robinson, Abescon, NJ and Gabe Leonard, Fries, Va. 3 Great-great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by close cousins - Archie Nowlin and Bill Parks.
Blake had many special people in his life but one person in particular has been a lifelong friend…Linda Sue Martin "Please let it be known that Linda Sue Martin was one of the many friends I had and will always have a special place in my heart. She was always there in my days of sickness."
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, August24, 2022 at 3:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with officiating pastors Rev. Sue Green and Bishop Ethelene Bryan. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until service time at the funeral home. There will be no graveside service or repast.
