Dovy Thomas Choate age 82 of Galax, Va. departed to his Heavenly Home March 17, 2008 at Twin County Regional Hospital. Mr. Choate was born in Alleghany County, North Carolina on May 2, 1925 to John & Annie Choate. In addition to his parents Dovy was preceded in death by loving wife of 57 years Lillian Choate and loving wife of 2 years Verna Mae Honaker Choate. He is survived by a daughter & son-in-law Ada Jean & Warren Baird of Laurel Springs, N.C.; sons & daughters-in-law Bobby & Anne Choate of Galax, Va.; Charles & Debbie Choate of Rocky Mount, N.C.; step-son and his wife Fred & Peggy Honaker of Walkertown, N.C.; sister Myrtle Holloway of Sparta, N.C.; brothers & sister-in-law Gene & Maxine Choate; Oscar Choate all of Galax, Va.; sisters-in-law Reba McGrady of Galax, Va.; Grace Morris of Lexington, N.C.; very special sister-in-law Marie Anders of Galax, Va.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews; special caregivers Elsie Payne and Cindy Moncus. The funeral service will be held Thursday, March 20, 2008 at 11:00 am in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor Garry Adams, Rev. Darren Brannock and Rev. Ted Bartlett officiating. Burial will follow at Felts Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from seven until nine at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. Flowers will be appreciated or donations may be made to Twin County Hospice. Masonic Rites will be conducted by Galax Moose Lodge #733.
