Douglas Simpson Bond, age 84, Fries, Virginia, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014 at the Twin County Regional Hospital, Galax, VA.
Mr. Bond was born Sept. 17, 1929 in Carroll County, Virginia to David & Patsy Bell Poole Bond. In addition to his parents , he was preceded in death by a son, Fairbanks Bond, grandson, Robby Faulkner and brothers, Eugene Bond, Frank Bond, Herman Bond and Robert Bond.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Bond, Fries, VA; son, Gary Douglas Bond, Galax, VA; daughters & sons-in-law, Brenda & Darrell Leonard, Fries, VA, Patsy & John Hill, Galax, VA, Melodie & Jeff Huffman, Galax, VA, Terry Elina Funk, Fries, VA; sister, Lucille Glasco, Fries, VA; grandchildren, Christy Brown, Jennifer Aldred, Gary Funk. Emily Moretz, Dustin Huffman; fourteen great-grandchildren and several nieces & nephews also survive.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Grace Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Fries, VA. The body will lie in state for one hour preceding the funeral service at the church on Tuesday. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Grace Baptist Church Monday June 2, 2014. Officiating ministers will be the Rev. Ben Haga and the Rev. Myron Dalton.
