Dorothy Jefferson Vaughan age 89 of Fries, Virginia passed away Sunday, October 18, 2015 in the Waddell Nursing Home.

Mrs. Vaughan was born in West Virginia on May 28, 1926 to John Oscar and Mary Lula Royal Jefferson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Melvin Howard Vaughan; sister Ruby Jefferson; brothers Oscar Jefferson; John Jefferson, Jr. and James Harold Jefferson; sister-in-law Virginia Jefferson.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Darlene V. and Junior Anderson of Fries, Virginia; grandchildren and spouses Sharlene and Jeff Cole; Timberly and Duwayne Shupe; great-grandchildren Amber Tate and Eric Sapp; great-great-grandchildren Jace Gray and Kelley Gravley; sister-in-law Maude Jefferson of Gibsonville, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. John Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
