Dorothy Mae Murphy age 86 of Ennice, North Carolina passed away Monday, July 11, 2011 in the Waddell Nursing Home.
Mrs. Murphy was born on June 3, 1925 in Lily, West Virginia to Lawrence M. and Mary Leona Smith Gray. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Junior Murphy.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Patsy A. and Gabe Velez of California; Mary S. Murphy of Ennice, North Carolina; Carol M. and Jerry Carpenter of Galax, Virginia; son and daughter-in-law Larry and Velinda Murphy of Ennice, North Carolina; sisters and brother-in-law Catherine Moretz and Thelma Roberts both of Galax, Virginia; Blanche and Carl Murphy of Low Gap, North Carolina; brother and sister-in-law Roy and Frances Gray of Galax, Virginia; grandchildren and spouses Justin and Terri Velez; Vincent and Vanesa Velez; Crystal and Jacob Frankis; Brandon Coleman; Eric Murphy; Kayla Murphy; Scott Carpenter; Jason Carpenter and Wesley Carpenter; great-granddaughter Haley Velez; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 3:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor Ron Fredericks and Rev. Zack Royer officiating. Burial will follow in the Saddle Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from six until eight at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
