Dorothy Gray Burnette age 79 of Pikeville, Kentucky and formerly of Galax, Virginia passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2013 in the Pikeville Medical Center.

Mrs. Burnette was born in Dublin, Virginia on July 5, 1934 to Charles and Ocie Sawyers Akers. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Sherman Burnette.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law Donna Crewe of San Antonia, Texas; Melissa and Anthony Hatfield of Blue River, Kentucky; sisters Charlene Isom of Galax, Virginia; Agnes Billings of Elkin, North Carolina; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Monta Vista Cemetery with Billy Burnette officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
