Doris Lee Smith Taylor age 81 of Galax, Virginia passed away Friday October 3, 2025 in the Twin County Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Taylor was born in Grayson County, Virginia on May 28, 1944 to Kyle Franklin and Ruby Violet Boyer Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Lois Larrowe and two brothers Bobby Edwards and Jimmy Edwards.

Doris and her husband Allen were married on October 3, 1975 with yesterday marking their 50th Wedding Anniversary.

In addition to  her husband Allen Taylor she is survived by  daughters and sons-in-law Tammy and Ken Cummings; Kelly and Stuart Patton; Lara Payne all of Galax, Virginia; Sherry and Kevin Goode of Clemmons, North Carolina; Angie and John Warner of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; sisters Ruth Edwards and Nell Bloodworth both of  Georgia; Mary McCray of West Virginia; Katy Edwards of Galax, Virginia; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation and service will be held on Saturday, October 18th from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the Hillcrest Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Ken Cummings will officiate the service. The family respectfully request no food or flowers at this time, however; these may be brought or sent to the church on October 18th.
