Doris Faye Taylor Johnson age 83 of Fries, Virginia passed away Sunday, February 21, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Johnson was born December 29, 1937 in Fries, Virginia to Robert and Vera Swinney Taylor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Walter Hix Johnson and a sister Juanita Wampler.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Winona and Doug Miller of Galax, Virginia; Wynn and Jeff Combs of Fries, Virginia; sons and daughters-in-law Warren and Ruth Johnson of Galax, Virginia; Wayne and Annalee Johnson of Roanoke, Virginia; Wade and Barbara Johnson of Fries, Virginia; sister and brother-in-law Mary and Alan Waller of Fries, Virginia; brothers and sisters-in-law Gene and Vina Taylor of Fries, Virginia; Jerry and Donna Taylor; Joe and Nancy Taylor all of Ivanhoe, Virginia; sixteen grandchildren Doug and Matt Johnson; Rachael Hartley; Andrew, Chloe, Abigail, Matthew and Michael Johnson; Chenoa Montgomery; Hix Miller; Lindsay Oliver; Joyelle Edmondson; Danielle Liddle; Joseph Johnson; Eden Gates and Marie McKnight; twenty great-grandchildren Cheyenne, Arizona, Nickolas and Dillon Johnson; Ellen; Logan and Zachary Hartley; Thomas and Alexis Montgomery; Sean Stuart; Daniel and Holly Miller; Taven, Maeli and Milli Parker; Kyrie and Norah Edmondson; Aryonna McKnight; Landon Brown and Anastasia Taylor; baby Oliver is on his way; sister-in-law Mabel Duncan; brother-in-law Bobby Johnson; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 3:00 PM in the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church with Pastor Greg Burnett and Pastor Jeff Combs officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests donations be made to the Mt. Hope Cemetery Fund, C/O Warren Johnson, 223 Winterberry Road, Galax, Virginia 24333.
