Doris Denny Cockerham age 82 of Galax, Va. passed away Monday, September 24, 2007 at her home. Mrs.Cockerham was born in Galax, Va. on January 25, 1925 to Alton & Lelia Wilson Denny. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Stuart Cockerham. She is survived by her daughters & sons-in-law Jeanie & J.D. Brewer of Winston-Salem, N.C.; Tammy & John Robinson of Galax, Va.; sons & daughters-in-law Michael & Wilma Cockerham of Elkin, N.C.; Dennis & Gayle Cockerham of Lynchburg, Va.; sisters Opal Kirby of Ruther Glen, Va.; Vivian Kenny of Galax, Va.; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. The funeral service will be held Thursday, September 27, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. James Cowley and Rev. Michael Cockerham officiating. Burial will follow in Meadow Creek Union Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from seven until nine at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
