Dora Alverta Key better known as Mama Key age 84 of Galax, Va. passed away Thursday in Richmond, Va.. She was born in Surry County, N.C. on August 27, 1924 to Lloyd & Susan Waddell Spicer. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John Howard Key, Sr. and a son Johnny Key.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Randy & Dena Key of Dugspur, Va.; a daughter Rita Key of Galax;two daughters & sons-in-law: Pamela & Samuel Brimer of High Point, NC; Scarlet & Dale Rucker of Galax, VA; daughter-in-law Shirley Key of Galax, Va; sister Linnie Baumgardner of Galax, Va.
Seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, November 2, 2008 at 2;00 pm at Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Randy J. Key officiating. Burial will follow in Haven of Rest Cemetery on Edmonds Road. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from seven until nine at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
