Dora Ila Hawkins age 76 of Galax, Virginia passed away Thursday, February 26, 2009 in Waddell Nursing Home. Mrs. Hawkins was born in Grayson County, Va. on February 23, 1933 to Grover & Flora Phibbs Clyburn. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Walter Jefferson Hawkins.She is survived by her sons Ray Hawkins, Randy Hawkins, David Hawkins and Larry Hawkins all of Galax, Va.; sister Lessie Taylor of Fries, Va.; brothers & sister-in-law Daniel & Patsy Clyburn; Jerry Clyburn all of Fries, Va.; sisters-in-law Faye Clyburn of Elk Creek, Va. and Opal Clyburn of Fries, Va.; grandchildren Jason Hawkins, Daniel Hawkins, Amber Hawkins and Jesse Hawkins. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 2:00 pm in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Rick Watson and Rev. Jeffrey Clyburn officiating. Burial will follow in Monta Vista Cemetery. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
