Donald Dee Stoots age 74 of Independence, Virginia passed away Wednesday March 30, 2022 in the Twin County Regional Hospital.

Donald was born on December 23, 1947 in Wythe County, Virginia to Roby S. and Mary Ola Akers Stoots.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by  his first wife Mary Stoots and a son Chris Stoots.

Donald proudly served his country in the US Navy and retired after twenty years of service.

He is survived by his wife Kaye Cox of Independence, Virginia; sons and daughters-in-law Donnie Stoots and Tonia Molnar of Charleston, South Carolina; Billy and Amanda Grubb of Galax, Virginia; Scotty and Leanne Grubb of Woodlawn, Virginia; daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Mark Brown of Woburn, Massachusetts; sisters and brother-in-law Brenda Higgins; Mary Sue Frost both of Galax, Virginia; Connie Sue and Jackie Anders of Rugby, Virginia; brothers Ron Stoots of Fries, Virginia; Dan Stoots of Huntsville, Alabama; Roby Stoots, Jr. of Galax, Virginia; fifteen grandchildren Chriselyn Stoots; Alyssa Stoots; Kory Stoots; Elizabeth Nestro; Dakota Molnar; Ashlyn Grubb; Brendan Grubb; Cayden Grubb; Daelyn Grubb;;  Paige Bennett (Tristen); Teagan Grubb; Mark, Jr.; Jason; Jeramy and Josh; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor Rodney Christman officiating. Burial will follow in the Bishops Chapel Cemetery with Military Rites by the Greensboro Naval Reserve Center. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from six until eight at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
