Donald Albert Michaelis age 84 of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday, October 29, 2012 at his home.

Mr. Michaelis was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 23, 1928 to Albert and Doris Michaelis. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Violet Lucille Rondeau Michaelis; two sons Mark Michaelis and Dale Michaelis.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Kay and Michael Parsons of Galax, Virginia; Karen and Randal Aldred of Woodlawn, Virginia; Cheri and Mark VanHoy of Galax, Virginia; sons and daughters-in-law Ronnie and Joyce Michaelis of Thomasville, North Carolina; Randy Michaelis of High Point, North Carolina; Dennis and Sue Michaelis of Fries, Virginia; half-brother Mark Michaelis of Hickory, North Carolina; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Harry Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
