Donald Eugene (Gene) Leonard age 67 of Galax, Va. passed away Thursday, July 10, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Leonard was born on September 24,1940 in Grayson County, Va. to Otie & Charlotte Bartlett Leonard. He is survived by his wife Janie Roberts Leonard of Galax, Va.; daughter Gena Anne Leonard of High Point, N.C.; son Donald Eugene Leonard II of Galax, Va.; sisters & brothers-in-law Lucille & Dean Carr; Lillian & Harold McMillan; Gaye & Harry Dean Hale; Carolyn & Roy Lee Cox all of Galax, Va.; Betty Jennings of Woodlawn, Va.; brother Ray Leonard of Galax, Va.; five grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. The funeral service will be held Sunday, July 13, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Brady Morrison, Rev. Ted Bartlett, Rev. J. Loyd Pugh and Jimmy Jennings officiating. Burial will follow in the McKenzie Cemetery with Military Rites by Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from six until eight at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the charity of the donor's choice or the McKenzie Cemetery Fund.
