Donald Edward Dobbins age 82 of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday, February 8, 2016 at his home.

Mr. Dobbins was born in Pulaski, Virginia on July 27, 1933 to George Isom and Myrtle Seagle Dobbins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters and brothers-in-law Georgie and Willie Roope; Emogene and Allan Bennett; two brothers Marvin Dobbins and Tommy Dean Dobbins; and a special nephew Charles Goodson.

He is survived by his wife Emily Dobbins of Galax, Virginia; sister and brother-in-law Joan and Earl Redditt of Chesapeake, Virginia; special great-niece Hannah Goodson; sisters-in-law and spouses Madeline and Willard Goodson; Barbara and Bob Showalter; Mary Delp; Bea Dobbins and Ann Dobbins; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Oakland United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tim Smith; the Rev. Jack Delp and the Rev. Larry Stone officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery with Military Rites by the Hillsville VFW Post 1115. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from six until eight at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. The body will lie-in-state one hour prior the funeral service at the Oakland United Methodist Church.
