Dewitt Henry Gillespie age 86 of Galax, Va. passed away Monday, February 12, 2007 at his home. He was born in Galax, Va. on May 23, 1920 to the late Henry & Jennie Allen Gillespie. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Alice Athene Gillespie. He is survived by a son & daughter-in-law Rodney & Eleanor Gillespie of Woodlawn, Va.; sister Marie Haga of Galax, Va.; brother Joe Blake Gillespie of Woodlawn, Va.; sister-in-law Naomi Gillespie of Galax, Va.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. The funeral service will be held Friday, February 16, 2007 at 11:00 AM in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Doug Hyndrich and Rev. Randy Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from seven until nine at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church Building Fund or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
