Dewey Raymond Payne, age 75, of Galax, Virginia passed away Sunday May 24, 2026 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Dewey was born on August 5, 1950 in Galax, Virginia to the late Verlin and Goldie Payne. He was also preceded in death by his wife Brenda Sue Payne.

He is survived by his daughter Veronica Lynn Goad of Wytheville, Virginia; son and daughter-in-law Raymond “Snapper” Jr. and Valerie Payne of Ararat, Virginia; grandchildren Noah Kenny, Hanson Kenny, Mary Payne, and Kierra “Kiakia” Lane. As well as several siblings, in-laws, nieces and nephews.

The memorial visitation will be held Wednesday May 27, 2026 from 6:00PM until 7:00PM at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
