Dewey Phipps Moore age 90 of Fries, Virginia passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017 in the Twin County Regional Hospital.

Mr. Moore was born in Grayson County, Virginia on November 1, 1926 to Dwight T. and Topsy Moss Moore. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Ellen Anders Moore.

He proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II.

He is survived by his daughter Patty Sue Carico; son Jerry Phipps Moore both of Fries, Virginia; granddaughter and husband Tiara and Scott Smolinski of Hardy, Virginia; great-granddaughter Lana Violet Smolinski; sister and brother-in-law Joyce and David Anders of Independence, Virginia; brothers and sisters-in-law Hardy and Doris Moore of Fries, Virginia; Johnny and Donna Moore of Sparta, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews; special friend Dwight Burnette of Fries, Virginia.

The funeral service will be held Friday, February 17, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Stevens Creek United Methodist Church with Pastor Bobbie Dunford officiating. Burial will follow in the Stevens Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from six until eight at the Stevens Creek United Methodist Church.
