Deward Cornett Parks better known as Cornett Parks age 90 of Galax, Virginia passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017 in the Blue Ridge Nursing and Rehab Center.

Mr. Parks was born on October 6, 1926 in Grayson County, Virginia to John Arthur and Ollie Cornett Parks.

He proudly served his country in the US Army.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Dianne and Jim Marshall; son and daughter-in-law Phillip and Judy Parks all of Galax, Virginia; grandson Scott Parks; great-grandchildren Courtney Parks and Meagan Parks; great-great-grandchild Jasmine Parks; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Friday, May 12, 2017 at 1:00 PM in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Gregory and the Rev. Joe Mack Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Felts Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 12:00 noon until time for the funeral service at the First United Methodist Church. The family request in lieu of flowers donations be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 445, Galax, Virginia 24333.
