Devon Kay Teaster (Surrett), age 44, of Sparta, NC, passed away early on January 6, 2025. She was born on September 30, 1980 in Bryson City, NC to Arlie Surrett and Cheryl Slater.

Devon was a loving mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Dean and Dallas Surrett and her mother, Sandra Kay Surrett. She is survived by her two daughters, Alyssa Teaster (Mace Newsome) and Addison Durham, one grandson, Marshall Newsome, one sister, Tonya Burton, birth mother, Cheryl Slater, father, Arlie Surrett, significant other, Kenny Bevins, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She especially loved her daughters, grandson, nieces, and nephews. Her favorite things included Halloween, photography, her cats, kayaking, traveling, and spending time with her family.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 18th, 2025 at Beaverdam Church Road, Canton, NC (Beaverdam Baptist Church) at 11am. In addition to flowers, donations may be made directly to Alyssa Teaster/Kenny Bevins.
