Denny Ivan Slate, age 63, of Woodlawn, Virginia passed away Friday December 3, 2021 in his home.

Denny was born in Pulaski, Virginia on March 29, 1958 to Charles and Ovelma Frost Slate. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law Ray Brooms, sister-in-law Betty Price, and brother-in-law Bill Brooms.

He is survived by his wife Lily Brooms Slate of Woodlawn; sons and daughter-in-law Matthew and Kayla Slate, Andrew Slate; grandchildren Hallie Madison Slate, Brenna Kylie Slate, and Matthew Keaton Slate; all of Fries. Also surviving is his brother Gary Slate of North Carolina; mother-in-law Pauline Brooms of Independence; brothers-in-law Kenny Brooms, Denny & Cindy Brooms; all of Fries; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday December 7, 2021 at 11:00 AM in Oak Grove Christian Church with Pastor Terry Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday in Oak Grove Christian Church from 10AM until time of the service.
