Dell Newman Mabe age 99 years, eleven months and fifteen days of Woodlawn, Virginia passed away Friday, January 16, 2026 in the Senior Home Shares in Galax, Va.

Mrs. Mabe was born on January 26, 1926 in Carroll County, Virginia, to Montie B. and Mary Ethel Smythers Newman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Joe Jackson Mabe; grandson Joseph Mabe; and siblings Mabel Jennings; Faye Davidson; Gene Newman and Mary Ann Griffin.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law Buford W. and Shelia Mabe of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Gale and Regina Mabe of Roanoke, Virginia; brothers and sisters -in-law Forest and Virginia Newman of Galax, Virginia; Willard Newman; Lake and Lola Newman all of Woodlawn, Virginia; several nieces and nephews; special nieces Sally Hill and Jill Edwards; several great nieces and great nephews; special friends and honorary pallbearers Mary Coulson; Priscilla Richardson; Wanda Marshall; Shea Bolen and Betty Roberts.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 28th at 12:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Dina Clowers, Doug Sharp and Susan Jennings officiating. Burial will follow in the Felts Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time for the funeral services at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
