David Franklin Payne age 59 of Galax, Virginia passed away Thursday September 12, 2013 in the Forsyth Medical Center.

David was born in Grayson County, Virginia on June 14, 1954 to Verlon and Goldie Alexander Payne.

In addition to his mother Goldie Payne of Galax, Virginia, David is survived by his wife Lena Payne; daughter Misty Day; special son Rascal all of Galax, Virginia; three grandchildren Eli Day; Jacob Day and James Davis; sisters and brothers-in-law Rachel and Rick Richardson; Lois and Larry Cornett all of Galax, Virginia; brothers and sisters-in-law Donald and Patsy Payne; Roger and Betty Payne; Clayton and Diane Payne; Raymond and Brenda Payne; Freddie and Kathy Payne all of Galax, Virginia; Doug and Dorlean Payne of Orange City, Florida; sister-in-law and husband; Nita and Jeff Cunningham of Lynchburg, Virginia; brother-in-law and wife Larry and Rhonda Leonard of Dillon, South Carolina; seventeen nieces and nephews; twenty-five great-nieces and great-nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Camp Zion Church with Pastor Rodney Christman officiating. Burial will follow in the Camp Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM at the Camp Zion Church.
