David Thomas Kirby age 74 of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday, January 5, 2026  at his home.

David was born in Galax, Virginia on June 10, 1951 to Bill Thomas and Lucille Hash Kirby. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Sherry Vaughan Kirby and brother Bill Kirby.

He is survived by his daughter Sonya Gail Carrico (Jesse Robert Simpson) of Fries, Virginia; three grandchildren Arizona Sullivan; Farren Sullivan and Trenton Simpson; one great-grandson Landon Sullivan;  his special beloved pets Eleanor; Tucker and Ava.

The funeral service will be held Friday at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor J.R. Bowers officiating. Burial will follow in the Felts Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
