Darlene Yvonne Vernon age 75 of Rural Retreat, Virginia passed away Friday, August 30, 2013 in the Wythe County Community Hospital.

Mrs. Vernon was born in Carroll County, Virginia on February 2, 1938 to Elmer William and Clara Ethelene Thomas Vernon. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Leon Stotler ; daughters Susan Dalton and Beth Yvonne Worley; sons Patrick Shannon Waller and William Jason Dalton.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Jamie and Andy Meade of Santa Fe, Texas; sons and daughter-in-law Paul Tate of Rural Retreat, Virginia; John Dalton of Alamance, North Carolina; Charles and Peggy Dalton of Marion, Virginia; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Monday, September 2, 2013 at 3:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Randy Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the Stevens Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and Monday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
