Daniel Brewer Spencer age 77 of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday, September 18, 2017 in the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina.

Mr. Spencer was born in Pulaski, Virginia on November 17, 1939 to William Elmer and Margie Alice Hoover Spencer. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Lillian Faye Spencer and two brothers Gilmer Spencer and Kenneth Spencer.

He proudly served his country in the US Navy.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law Danny and Linda Spencer of Galax, Virginia ; Eric and Suzanne Spencer of Hillsville, Virginia; Brandon Spencer and special friend Jessica Brown; four grandchildren Cody Spencer; Travis Spencer; Peyton Spencer and Lily Spencer; two sisters Mary Delp and Nancy Johnson both of Galax, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 3:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. James Cowley officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery with Military Rites by the Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
