Daniel Clayton Joines age 83 of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday, August 22, 2016 in the North Carolina Baptist Hospital.

Mr. Joines was born in Alleghany County, North Carolina on May 21, 1933 to R. Glenn and Charity Caudill Joines.

He proudly served his country in the US Air Force.

He is survived by his wife Eva Edwards Joines of Galax, Virginia; daughters and sons-in-law Teresa and Byron Terry of Alabama; Deborah and Gary Bumgardner of Kernersville, North Carolina; Dana and Jim Gregg of Warrenton, Virginia; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one nephew.

The funeral service will be held Friday, August 26, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Oakland United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tim Smith and the Rev. Randy Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Oakland United Methodist Church. Military Rites will be conducted by the Hillsville VFW Post 1115. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Oakland United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Susan White, 3000 Pipers Gap Road, Galax, Virginia 24333.
