Dan Reese Caudell age 60 of Galax, Va. passed away Monday, May 12,2008 at his home. He was preceded in death by his father, Reese James Caudell and a nephew, Joe Thomas Stagner. Dan is survived by his wife Rachel Brooks Caudell of the home; sons & daughters-in-law Travis & Teresa Caudell of Galax, Va.; Richard & Christina Caudell of West Point, NY.; his mother Virginia Joines Caudell Phipps of Sparta, N.C.; two sisters & brothers-in-law Linda & Richard Nichols of Sparta, N.C.; Nancy& Tom Stagner of Cadiz, Ky.; two brothers-in-law John Brooks of Winston-Salem & Roger Brooks of Galax, Va.; a sister-in-law, Lois Koontz of Jefferson; several nieces & nephews also survive. Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 2:00 pm at the Friendship Baptist Church in Sparta. The body will lie-in-state thirty minutes prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Home Baptist Church Cemetery in Sparta. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
