Obituary

Curtis Maynard Ogle, age 74, of Woodlawn, Virginia passed away Friday December 29, 2023 in Twin County Regional Hospital.

Curtis was born on March 22, 1949 in Woodlawn, Virginia to the late Robert Monroe and Hazel Ogle. He was also preceded in death by his Granny Walls, sister Frances Pack and granddaughter Amber King.

Maynard was, and always will be the best, and most loving brother, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a simple man with a heart of gold that spent most of his time on the front porch   with a smile on his face. He had 8 dogs and 1 cat, as well as several mountain cats that he loved and cared for.  In his younger years he had many jobs, including traveling with the carnival where he made cotton candy and candy apples. He has always loved motorcycles and Volkswagens and enjoys flat-footing, eating ice cream and just being silly. He will be greatly missed by all his loved ones, but he will never be forgotten.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Stephanie Winstead (Ryan) of Wilson, North Carolina, Tammy Whitby (Lucky) of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, Tammy Empkie of Woodlawn, Virginia; sons Pete Empkie (Stormy) of Woodlawn, Virginia, Curtis Harrelson (Erika) of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; brother and sister-in-law Deanie Ogle (Lucy) of Pinnacle, North Carolina; sisters and special friends Bobbie Easter of Low Gap, North Carolina, Evelyn Bobbit (Goober) of Mt. Airy, North Carolina, Wanda Crabb of Mt. Airy, North Carolina, Cat Ogle (Kenneth) of Mt. Airy, North Carolina, Vickie Ogle (Billy) of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; grandchildren Sarah, Samantha, Colton, Caydance, Raelynn, Danielle, Kaitlyn, Heather, and Ashley; great-grandchildren Meredith, Lydia, Susannah, Makenna, Hannah, Christopher, Gracey, Dalston, Destiny, Brantley, Noah, Cameron, and Raya as well as several nieces and nephews.
