Curtis Jefferson Jones age 70 of Independence, Virginia passed away Friday, January 5,2018 in the Grayson Nursing and Rehab Center.

Curtis was born on November 13, 1947 in Carroll County, Virginia to Cutis Elmo and Imogene Hill Jones. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a son Curtis Jarrod Jones and a brother Jimmy Jones.

He proudly served his country in the US Army.

In addition to his mother Imogene Hill Jones of Independence, Virginia he is survived by a son Jason Curtis Jones of Johnson City, Tennessee; grandsons Cody Jones and Dylan Jones; sisters and brothers-in-law Mary Alice and Joe Sauer of Charlotte, North Carolina; Molly and Roger Hill of Woodlawn, Virginia; Shelby and Mitch Leonard of Galax, Virginia; Nora and Bob Cole of Independence, Virginia; C.W. Jones of Johnson City, Tennessee; Timmy and Patty Jones of Woodlawn, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2018, 2:00 PM at the Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request donations be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
