Clyde Richard Burriss, Jr. known as Jay Burriss age 60 of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday, July 17, 2023 at his home.

Jay was born on May 15, 1963 in New London, Connecticut to Clyde Richard and Janice Lundy Burriss.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Carolyn Sue Burriss; a daughter Lilly Burriss and his special friend Ralph Cox.

He is survived by his wife Melinda Dixon Burriss of Galax, Virginia; son and daughter-in-law Bronson and Brianna Burriss of New Jersey; daughter Aubrey Burriss of Galax, Virginia; mother Janice Lundy of Laurel Fork, Virginia; father Clyde Richard Burriss of North Carolina; brother Timmy Burriss of Fries, Virginia; one granddaughter Makenna Burriss; step sons  Joshua, Conner and Nathan Rosenbaum.

A memorial service will be held Sunday at 3:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 PM until time for the service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request donations be made to the family.
