Corrected Obituary:

Clarin Elmo Martin age 89 of Galax, Virginia passed away Friday, October 19, 2018 in the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

Mr. Martin was born on April 5, 1929 in Woodlawn (Carroll County), Virginia to Thomas Wiley and Alice Whitt Martin. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers.

He proudly served our country in the US Army in the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Georgie Dunevant Martin of Independence, Virginia; special daughter Tonya Martin and Dennis Stanley of Fayetteville, North Carolina; special grandchildren Savannah Simpson and Matt of Fayettville, North Carolina; Joshua Simpson and Jennifer of Cullowhee, North Carolina; brother Otto Martin of Bland, Virginia; sister-in-law Vada Lineberry Martin of Galax, Virginia; loving friend and caregiver Paulette Thompson; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Sunday at 3:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Ted Bartlett officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery with Military Rites by the Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
