Clarence Wayne Sutherland age 77 of Fries, Virginia passed away Friday, October 9, 2015 in the Twin County Regional Hospital.

Mr. Sutherland was born in Galax, Virginia on November 21, 1937 to Thomas Jefferson and Virginia Edith Leonard Sutherland. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his wife Kasena Gunter Sutherland.

In addition to his mother Virginia Leonard Sutherland of Galax, Virginia, he is survived by his son Aaron Sutherland of Fries, Virginia; step-sons and spouses Jimmy and Yulanda Carico of Fries, Virginia; Shawn Carico of West Virginia; Tim and Tracy Carico of Independence, Virginia; sisters and brother-in-law Barbara Russell of Galax, Virginia; Debbie and DeWayne Creed of Pilot Mountain, North Carolina; brothers and sisters-in-law Kenneth and Mary Sutherland of Spanaway, Washington; Carroll and Sandy Sutherland of Cumming, Georgia; Tom and Debbie Sutherland of Montgomery, Alabama; Harold and Ann Sutherland of Galax, Virginia; seven step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Monday, October 12, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Locust Grove Church of Christ with Craig Embree and Tom Sutherland officiating. Burial will follow in the Fries Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 until time for the funeral service at the Locust Grove Church of Christ. Military Rites will be conducted by the Hillsville VFW Post 1115. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in memory of Wayne Sutherland to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
