Clarence Mitchell Brown, Jr. better known as Tommy Brown age 61 of Fries, Virginia passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at his home.

Tommy was born in Maryland on October 2, 1955 to Clarence Mitchell Brown, Sr. and Grace Triplett Brown. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Robert Junior Hicks and Billy Dean Hicks and a special friend Precious Brown.

He is survived by his wife Vera Sue (Sandy) Brown of Fries, Virginia; daughters and sons-in-law Jennifer Lynn and James Ray Hayton of Fries, Virginia; Tonya Kimberly and James Earl Waddell of Independence, Virginia; Shannon Ashley LeAnn Brown of Galax, Virginia; step-sons and wife Joseph Dale Tate of Fries, Virginia; Randall Gale and Gypsy Tate of Sophie, North Carolina; Gene Hicks of Denver, Colorado; sisters Barbara Ann Shores; Frances Marie Dorsey both of Fries, Virginia; Wilma Jean and Fred Medley of Piney Creek, North Carolina; brothers William Jean Brown of Piney Creek, North Carolina; James Conway Hicks of Galax, Virginia; eight grandchildren Brittani, Brandi, Samuel, Kacey, Kenneth, Kameren, Leland, Jacobi; one great-grandchild to be Kolton Malaki; fifteen step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor Richard Fitzgerald officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 PM until time for the service in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel. At the request of Tommy his body will be cremated after the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family.
