Clarence Samuel Cox, Sr. age 83 of Galax, Virginia passed away Friday, October 2, 2009 at Twin County Regional Hospital.
Mr. Cox was born on January 4, 1926 in Alleghany County, N.C. to Lester & Mettie Cox. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters Violet Raglin and June Cox.
He is survived by his wife Helen Joines Cox; daughter & son-in-law Patsy & Ronnie Cox; son & daughter-in-law Clarence Samuel Cox, Jr. & Kay all of Galax, Va.; grandchildren Robert Simpson; Ronald Simpson; James Cox; Shannon Tate and Rhonda Reed; six great-grandchildren; sisters Virgie Combs of Springfield, Ohio; Opal Gentry of Plant City, Florida and Georgia Lee Cox of Sparta, N.C..
The funeral service will be held Monday, October 5, 2009 at 10:00 am in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Darrin Brannock officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Home Union Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from seven until nine at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
