Clarence Douglas Copeland, 69, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Twin County Regional Hospital, Galax, VA. Douglas was born July 27, 1942 in Wythe County, Virginia to Herbert Cecil and Frances Annalee Simmons Copeland. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty years Vera Moore Copeland, his father, one brother, one sister and one great grandson.
He is survived by his children: Tina & Don Clontz of Fries, Katy Copeland & fiancé Joey Tate of Ararat, VA, Charles Copeland & Tammy of Galax; mother Annalee Copeland of North Wilkesboro, NC; sister Darlene Shupeing of North Wilkesboro, NC; brother Don Copeland of Hopewell, VA; grandchildren: Emily Rutherford & fiancé Stacey Key; Holly Copeland, Courtney Copeland & fiancé Brad Funk, Jessica Anders & fiancé Kevin Freeman, Heather Clontz, Joshua & Sarah Hash & Jared Hash; nine great grandchildren.
Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Special caregivers are Emily Rutherford & Stacey Key and special friends the members of the Guardian Ambulance Service.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at 1:00 PM in the Mount Hope United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Adams and Rev. Matt Linkous officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, June 18, 2012 from 7 PM until 9 PM at Mount Hope.
