Clara Beatrice Akers Littreal, age 93, of Madisonville, TN, was called home to be with her Lord,1:17 P.M. Monday, June 11, 2012 at her home with her daughter & son at her side. Born in Wythe County, VA in June of 1918, one of nine children to the late Erasmus Andrew & Tabitha Gravely Akers. Friends and family knew her as "Bea". A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Worked at Fries Cotton Mill in Fries, VA and later at Virginia House Furniture in Atkins, VA. As a pastor's wife, she served her Lord alongside her husband. Children of the church and community referred to her as "Granny Bea" and many continued that into adulthood, which speaks of her kind and loving gestures toward all those around her. Many family members will be warm for years to come comforted under handmade quilts that Bea lovingly crafted. Enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and other crafting hobbies.
Survivors, daughter & son-in-law, Louise Littreal & Ronald Jones, Thurmond, N.C., Son & daughter-in-law, Carroll Dean & Wanda Littreal, Madisonville, TN, Grandchildren & spouses, Ronda & Allen Cooper, Karen & Dahl Tritt, Kristie & Scott Edwards, Steve & Kelly Littreal, Paula & Glenn Mills, Great-grandchildren, Kayley, Samantha, Andrew, Sam, Lexy, Daniel, Dakota and Gabe, Several nieces & nephews. Preceded in death by husband of 75 years, Rev. Buren Littreal, siblings, James, Edgar, Arthur, Joseph and Harvey Akers, Helen & Rose Criner, Peggy Martin and Willie (Bill) Watson.
A funeral service will be held 7 P.M. Wednesday, Biereley-Hale Chapel, Rev. Braxton Cotton officiating.
Interment will be held 2 P.M. Thursday, Mt. Hope Methodist Cemetery, Fries, VA with the Rev. Sammy Bartlett officiating. Family will receive friends 1-2 P.M. Thursday at Mt. Hope Methodist Church, Fries, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mt. Hope Methodist Cemetery Fund, Fries, VA.
