Christine Maria Vuurmans age 84 of Fries, Virginia passed away Sunday, January 4, 2015 in the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina.

Mrs. Vuurmans was born on April 6, 1930 in Malang, Indonesia. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Coenraad Vuurmans.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Alex and Carolyn Vuurmans of Fries, Virginia; Henri and Sandra Vuurmans of Galax, Virginia; Max and Teri Vuurmans of Matthews, North Carolina; sister Henrietta Groot of California; brother and sister-in-law Adriaan and Wendy Cooke of Australia; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; five step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 7:00 PM in the Fries Baptist Church with Junior Anderson and the Rev. John Williams officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in the Fries Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM until time for the service at the Fries Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to either the Fries Baptist Church, the Fries Rescue Squad or to the SPCA.
