Christine Kegley Crockett of Galax, Virginia passed away Saturday, April 15, 2017 at home after a brief illness.

She was born on April 1, 1925, the daughter of Paul and Ila Todd Shores, both deceased.

Christine was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church in Galax and an employee of the Carnation Company for many years.

Along with Robert Kyle Kegley, her first husband, Christine began to acquire Shetland ponies to satisfy Robert's childhood desire to own a pony. They then purchased their first registered miniature horses in England, which grew into what is now known as Circle K Mini-Horse Farm. Christine continued to operate this farm after the untimely death of her husband in 1990. With her second husband, Buford Crockett, several winters were spent at his condo in Florida.

Christine was predeceased by her first and second husbands; her brother, Paul B. Shores, Jr. , of Roanoke; sisters-in-law Jo Ellen Phipps and Nancy Smoot. Surviving are two step-children: Brent Crockett (Johnette) of Raleigh, NC, and Chris Reynolds (Ronnie) of Roanoke, VA; sisters-in-law Barbara Shores, of Roanoke, and Mary Jane Watts of Virginia Beach; two step-grandchildren Chase Huffman and Emily Huffman; several nephews, nieces, and cousins of Roanoke and Galax including special cousin, Geraldine Beamer.

Services to celebrate the life of Christine will be Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Gregory officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 PM until time for the service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home, 201 West Center Street, in Galax. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church.
