Charlotte Vaughan Philen age 68 of Galax, Va. passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at her home. She was born in Galax, Va. on January 25,1939 to Thomas Jefferson & Virginia June Hale Vaughan. In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her brother Dr. Thomas June Vaughan. She is survived by her husband O. Donald Philen, Jr. of Galax, Va.; her mother Virginia June Vaughan of Fries, Va.; step-daughters Charlotte Lee Philen of Va.; Donna Lynne Council of N.C.; step-son Bradford Chapman Philen of New York; one step-grandson; one niece; one nephew; one aunt & uncle; several cousins also surive. A memorial service will be held Friday, February 23, 2007 at 11:00 AM in Ebenezer United Methodist Church with Rev. Gloria Lancaster Rhudy and Rev. Olin Shupe officiating. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Ebenezer United Methodist Church Building Fund. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
