Charlie Ellis Maxwell age 88 of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2010 in Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, N.C..

Mr. Maxwell was born on March 7, 1923 in Galax, Va. to Calvin & Ella Jennings Maxwell. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Jamma Bladen of Kennett Square, Pa. and two step-sons Chester Robinson & Randy Robinson of Galax, Va..

He is survived by his wife Lena Rose Maxwell of Galax, Va.; daughters & sons-in-law Annie & Allie Murphy of Frazier, Pa.; Vanessa & Phillip Brooks of Va. Beach, Va.; Merry Doss of Bel Air, Md.; son Tony Hale of Richmond, Va.; step-daughter Viola Brown of Coatsville, Pa.; step-son & wife Billy Ray & Wilma Robinson of Galax, Va.; son-in-law William Bladen of Kennett Square, Pa.; sisters Irene Brooks of East Spencer, N.C.; Carrie Mae Powell of Salisbury, N.C.; brother & sister-in-law John & Oriville Maxwell of Galax, Va.; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; twelve step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Saturday at 1:00 pm in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel. Burial will follow in the Oldtown Cemetery with Military Rites By Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family will receive friends Friday evening from six until eight at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
