Charlie Alfred Bowman age 80 of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2018 in the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina.

Mr. Bowman was born in Carroll County, Virginia on January 12, 1938 to Ervin Flenoah and Sena Hazel Melton Bowman.

He is survived by his wife Patsy Carr Bowman of Galax, Virginia; children and spouses Donald Ray Bowman of Galax, Virginia; William Delane Bowman of Greensboro, North Carolina; Dianne and Sky Preece of Buchanan, Virginia; Danita and Mike Jackson of Laurel Fork, Virginia; sisters and brother-in-law Hazel Easter of Cana, Virginia; Janie Higgins; Norma and Dean Payne all of Galax, Virginia; six grandchildren Michaela Jackson; Andrea Jackson both of Laurel Fork, Virginia; Amber Hill of Fries, Virginia; Brittany Jackson of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina;  Noel Preece; Grayson Preece both of Buchanan, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with  the Rev. James Cowley and Terry Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. Military Rites will be conducted by the Grayson VFW Post 7726. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, North Carolina 27017.
