Charles Ray Simmons age 70 of Woodlawn, Virginia passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Mr. Simmons was born in Wythe County, Virginia on August 27, 1947 to Brockie Dewhitt and Geneva Pickett Simmons. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Harry Simmons and Mike Simmons.

He is survived by his wife Betty Harris Simmons of Woodlawn, Virginia; son Charles Ray (Chuck) Simmons; step-son and wife Joseph Walter and Doris Cox of Pinnacle, North Carolina; two step-grandchildren Emily Cox and Matthew Poore; two step-great-grandchildren Robbie Poore and Oliver Poore; brothers and sisters-in-law Brockie Simmons of Lusby, Maryland; Tommy and Gloria Simmons of Maryland; Bobby and Joan Simmons of Edgewater, Maryland; Jimmy and Cheryl Simmons of Catonsville, Maryland; Ricky and Janet Simmons of Easton, Maryland; Johnny Simmons of Westminster, Maryland; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, September 24, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Sammy Holderfield and the Rev. Steven Poore officiating. Burial will follow in the Stevens Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
