Obituary

Due to the weather, the funeral service for Mr. Nixon has been moved to Monday, December 21, 2009. Visitation from 12 noon until time for the funeral service at 2:00 PM at the Oakland United Methodist Church.

Charles C. Nixon, 73, formerly of Williamsburg, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2009.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel D. Nixon, daughters and son-in-laws, Gayle and William Trautman, Glenda and Baxter Bell, Ellen and Tony Hall, four grandchildren, sisters and brother-in-law, Hazel and Manny Richardson and Juanita Yentes, and brothers and sisters-in-law, Roby and Betty Nixon, Jr., Ed and Mamie Nixon, Tommy Nixon and Jerry and Martha Nixon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roby and Helen Carmean Nixon, and his first wife, Kaye S. Nixon.

He was a retired Master Plumber and worked many years at the Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown, Va. He served in the United States Army as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division. He was a treasured member of the Galax community and will be sadly missed by all.

Visiting hours will start at 12:noon, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 21, 2009 at Oakland United Methodist Church in Galax, Va. (weather permitting).Military rites will be conducted by Grayson VFW Post #7726.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at James River Baptist Church Cemetery in Williamsburg, Va. at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oakland United Methodist Church Building Fund
