Charles Wesley Newsome age 61 of Galax, Virginia passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012 in the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina.

Charles was born on July 17, 1950 to Grady Oscar and Cora Lee Lane Newsome. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Christopher Lester; sister Ruth Moser; brother Billy Gray Newsome; nephew Michael Ray Newsome.

He is survived by his wife Jewell McLean Newsome of Galax, Virginia; daughter and son-in-law April and Tim McAdams of Stuart, Virginia; sons and daughter-in-law Charles W. Newsome, Jr. of Tobaccoville, North Carolina; Charles and Alisa Lester of Patrick Springs, Virginia; step-children Christine Robinson of Galax, Virginia; Scott Lester and Chuck Lester both of King, North Carolina; Tony Lester of Colorado Springs, Colorado; sisters and brothers-in-law Nancy and Jimmy Edmonds of Pilot Mountain, North Carolina; Dorothy and Mike Smith; Doris and Allen Ladd all of King, North Carolina; one grandchild; three great-grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 2, 2012 in the First Christian Church Cemetery with Rev. Robert McLean and Brother James Howell officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Vaughgn-Guynn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the First Christian Church Cemetery in Tobaccoville, North Carolina.
